No More Sugarrade Please!

Published by JPJenkins at 9:17 am under Daily Life, Food, Health

150 calories per Gatorade.  150.  Wow I know.  And so much sugar.  Grrrr

Well I guess I have to change another habit.  First it was cutting back on coffee and now looks like more water and less Gatorade.

Normally I drink 5 to 6 20 ounce bottles of water a day and 3 to 5 Gatorades a day.  Oh yea and of course start everyday the American way, 2 cups of java.

Now I guess cutting down to 1 Gatorade a day and going up to 8 20 ounce bottles of water is better for me.  So with those still wishing to send out goodies I ask to hold off on the Gatorade.

The only problem I have now is what to put in my water.  So much water gets boring and I have liked the Propel but of course need to check on if that’s sugar free and near to no calories.

Anyone know?

Any other suggestions?

NO PROPEL!! You can put fresh fruit in your water to give it some flavor. anything from lemon and lime, to orange, strawberry, peach, anything will work. Propel has artificial sweetener in it and fruit “flavor”. Just thought I would save you the time to email me this question and send you my answer!

Whats wrong with Propel? Its just 20 calories and 4 gms of sugar.

Lets just say the fresh fruit isnt.

I am just looking for a taste other then water

Crystal Lights are tasteful in water. My favorite ones are Wild Strawberry Energy. It has 5 calories per packet, no sugars no fats. But this flavor does have 60 mg of caffeine. They do have some with none though. They do have some Vitamins too!

I say go with Crystal Light to add some flavor!

From Propels website “Propel is sweetened with a blend of natural and artificial sweeteners to provide the intensity of flavor and sweetness that can help you drink more “.
So basically it’s 4 grams of sugar plus a boat load of chemicals.

    hmmmm unknown chemicals

You know that they make a sugar free or reduced sugar Gatorade also - G2. So, it does have an artificial sweetener added and while it may not be great for you - I think moderation here is the key.

You what else works well - cut the regular Gatorade with water. Thats what I do…I will use 1/3 gatorade to 2/3 water. You could do that with the Propel also. It just gives it that little bit of flavor and less calories - you know I am all about that!!!

I feel your pain- plain water gets boring awfully fast!!! :D

OK, my last bit of input and then i will bow out gracefully. Sugar free gatorade, crystal light, propel, etc. are all basically the same. Drink the one you prefer, there really is no difference nutritionally. As Kiera said it’s all about moderation..but 5-6 bottles a day is not moderation. So that being said don’t substitute the same amount of gatorade you have been drinking for an equal amount of one of the above. BUT saying all this, I also realize that I am not the average person when it comes to diet and what I am and am not willing to put in my body. (so I will refrain from further comments on this topic)

I think it was Ben Franklin who said: In wine there is wisdom, in beer there is freedom, in water there is bacteria. Personally, I’d go for a beer… haha

    Here here to the beer

Plain old lemon juice in your water. quenches thirst and alkalinizes your body.

Stay away from everyting sugar free! Everything labled sugar free, unless it is Stevia , is sheer poison for your body! You would be better off (and healthier) with just a little REAL sugar
or Stevia if you need sweetner.

I knew I liked your mom for a reason! She and I agree on the artificial sweetener issue…YAY mom!
